Question for Dentists?

I've had a slight pain when chewing on my back molar. It's a twinge that occurs when I chew on anything hard, and on a scale of 1 to 10, it's probably only a 2. Still, I was worried, so I went to my dentist, who in turn sent me to an endodontist. The endodontist said that he believes that there is the beginning of a crack forming on one corner. Like I said, the pain is very minimal - I never have pain any other time, just when I chew, and it's not something that's unbearable. My question is, is it possible to repair the crack with something like bonding or composite, or does it sound like it needs a crown?
