Still looking for advice please read?

I am in a tough situation maybe you can lead me in the right direction. I was extremely close friends with this girl and then we started dating. We stopped because she said she needed to be single. I found out she came out of a 5 year relationship before hand. I know she still has feelings for her ex, but she tells people she will never go back and it ended very badly. We got into a huge fight about "us" the other day and now my friendship with her is in jeopardy. When we were fighting I asked her to "tell me that it is over for good" if thats how she feels. She had a tough time saying that, but finally said she doesnt think we are right for each other. I flat out love this girl and I really though she did love me. Is it possible she does love me and can't admit her feeling because of the ex or is it 100% over and I should not look back. I am mature enough to know when I'm in love and I really was. Should I give up hope or let it cool down and see what happens in the future...?
