With the internet readily available how do High School kids learn anything?

When I was in high school (graduated just over 10 years ago) we had to go to dusty libraries and read old ancient encyclopedias for hours to research reports and projects, but what stops kids nowadays from cheating and simply copy and paste all their work from Wikipedia or some similar website?
