Anyone else have issues with codeine? And what can cause issues?

have had horrible stomach cramping and pain whenever I have taken codeine. So bad that I was literally on the floor crying with the pain. I couldn't sit or stand I felt like I was going to die. I looked up side effects and nothing mentions what happens to me. The first time it happened was after my gall bladder surgery. I though it was constipation and drank a bottle of prune juice. Boy was that a mistake. :) And the next time was after I had my wisdom teeth pulled. It was worse the second time. Its weird bc I have taken it previous to the surgery and nothing bad happened. Can anyone think to why this may be happening and has this ever happened to anyone else?
